This website is setup to support our Blog located at www.TennesseeGadfly.blogspot.com . We have found out the hard way that alternative news is frowned upon by public officials, especially small town officials. In 2007 several of us regular common folk got together and created an alternative online newspaper called RheaCountyNewspaper.com to compete with and publish pretty much the same stories that the ONLY newspaper in the county was printing but was just printing everything considered by many, and many more like us to be biased and one sided.

To our amazement, we found that with all the Ogrish.com's, the porn, the scams and everything else we find on the Internet, out of all those websites our website that had grown from 50 hits per month to an average of 5,000 to 7,000 hits per month in just over one year was SHUT DOWN. Not only was the site shut down, but we could not get any explaination as to "WHY". It was as if the entire site was placed on a terror list or something. This happened in October 2008 and we had our suspicion that our local small town police department was the ones that had us shut down, so we began to dig. Sure enough, we are almost 99% certain that a member of the police department in conspiracy with other members that we alleged go all the way up the food chain to the chief of police and perhaps, even the mayor. We are still digging...

Our website, RheaCountyNewspaper.com published news stories and held back no punches. When we found out that the police chief himself actually had a high school Grade Point Average of 1.96, we published it. When we found out that this under-achiever chief of police was the nephew of the Dayton City Manager we started probing even deeper and published that too. When a reader emailed us a picture of an off duty Dayton police officer washing a city owned patrol car in a whole different county, we published that too. As for Mayor Bob Vincent, we here he hated everything we published pertaining to him. Then again, he never not once requested a retraction. Wonder why? Is a policy of NOT RETRACTING TRUTH have anything to do with it? To them sort of "special" people of some sort of self importance we probably felt like a tape worm up their (_*_) to them. But to the general public, they were finally glad to see an alternative newspaper that was putting the truth out there. Folks, when you stand up and start blurting out the truth and those in a power position do not want the truth told then the First Amendment does NOT apply to Rhea County, Tennessee and more specifically, it surely does not apply in the county seat small town of Dayton. And yes, it is the same Dayton that had the monkey trial.

So, although the RheaCountyNewspaper.com website was wrongly shut down, mimicked and destroyed by the alleged abuse of police authority, while working on the job for the city, while using city owned equipment, we allege that we were right when we predicted many months ago that police abused their authority in shuting the website down. After all, it sounds exactly like something they would do. Then again, how stupid must the person be to actually BUY an exact same domain name (except .org instead of .com) and then use websites like Topix.com to threaten and harass witnesses and even the plaintiff of a federal lawsuit in which HE is the sole, individual defendant!!! How stupid is that folks?

Seriously... I nominate Steve "ever wonder" Rievley as "Man of the Year" on that one...

This website will be updated by a SWAT team member and IF this little police department thinks of attempting to shut us down again then we will not have all our eggs in one basket this time. We also will be creating a link to the archive of what files we had backed up at the old RheaCountyNewspaper.com website. These files were damaged and we will have to repair them and the formatting from the server that buckled (Yahoo!) because we are not professional web designers but use site builder programs. Who knows, maybe we too will grow into one of those million dollar websites but then again our mission is to get the truth out and not what is spoon fed to us.
