Rhea County Topix.com election poll stats

As elections spur just around the corner in Rhea County some people thought to be shoe ins due to their last names are not showing any impressive numbers. In fact, just the opposite is true.Topix.com a very large respectable news website prides itself on being one of the most comprehensive news websites on the Internet. Topix.com allows people to not only search for news around their particular location, they allow people interested in helping Topix.com get more local news to the public by allowing editors to post stories. Additionally, Topix.com allows for anyone with or without a registered user name to actually create topic forums to stimulate discussions on the local level. As part of the overall news gathering, Topix.com uses it’s latest up to date technology in allowing polls to be created and placed in any locality in the nation. These polls have been considered by many to be as accurate, if not more accurate than professional pollsters who usually contact a handful of randomly picked pollsters and ask them a series of questions. Often such polling practices can yield various percentages that are used to reflect what a particular populate is indicating. For example, only 100 people may be polled and if 30 say “yes” to a question and 70 say “no” to the same question then you have a poll that is deemed indicative of 30% for and 70% against a particular issue.Topix.com and it’s tremendous success and reported accuracy takes all the guess work out of polling by allowing you, the individual to sign into Topix.com and simply cast your vote. With Topix.com’s geolocation technology, the use of cookie files and an array of other programs, it is very difficult to cheat on these type polls. Since computers, like telephones and people, they have a unique I.D. which is commonly called an I.P. address. When your computer visit’s a website such as Topix.com and you cast your vote you are not allowed to cast another vote because your computer is recognized as already been there and already cast a poll vote. Naturally, to not do this then polls would be rendered completely useless and have no value at all if one person could simply sit and “click” numerous times in a session. We have researched several ongoing polls on Topix.com and have discovered some very interested numbers. It seems that the people of Rhea County who are the ones that generally vote in these local polls have different thoughts when it comes to election. One such poll was the question, “Would you sign a petition to Recall Bob Vincent”. We were shocked to find that a massive 337 votes voted in favor of having a recall election of newly elected Mayor Bob Vincent. Only 21 pollsters voted against such recall. That poll translates into 94% in favor of a recall election to 5% not in favor of a recall with a margin of error on only 1%. It appears that there is already the 66% total votes needed to recall Mayor Vincent if a recall petition is picked up from the election commission and circulated. We tried to contact Mayor Bob Vincent at his website http://reelectmayorvincent.com/ but it has been shut down apparently after his election.Other polls of interest were conducted about political newcomer Mike Sneed for sheriff. Mr. Sneed has already announced that he was going to run for sheriff in 2010. Sneed, who has worked his entire career in law enforcement has worked in Hamilton County and it seems that many people think he should run for sheriff in the county where he has worked for all these years and not come to Rhea County attempting to capitalize on his father’s name former Rhea County Sheriff, Leon Sneed. Other concerns were that Mike’s brother, Chris Sneed is the city of Dayton Chief of Police, the largest city police department in the county. Still more concerns linger about Frank Welch, city manager for the city of Dayton is the “uncle” to both Mike and Chris Sneed and it is been reported that even Chris Sneed’s aunt is the bookkeeper for his department. Many people seem to think there is already too much nepotism and too much public authority in one small handful of family members with access to millions of dollars of tax money.Apparently the people for some reason do not desire Mike Sneed being the sheriff for Rhea County as the Topix.com poll of “Would you vote for Mike Sneed for Sheriff” reveals some rather shocking results. As of this publishing today, August 1, 2009 there was a total of 798 votes cast in this poll. 608 of those people that voted in the poll, making up 76% of the total votes cast voted “NO” they would not vote for Mike Sneed. Of the total votes cast only 190 people voted “YES” that they would vote for Mike Sneed which is only 23% of the total vote cast with a 1% margin for error.Another older Topix.com poll that has long since been closed in 2008 was the poll question, “Would you vote Roy Denton for sheriff” where 217 people cast votes. Surprisingly, Denton a former elected constable garnered 171 votes or 78% of the total votes cast, that voted “YES” to voting for him, while 46 votes or 21% voted “NO” with a margin of error of 1%. We contacted Mr. Denton and he said he was astonished at the high percentage in favor of him but just didn’t think he wanted to fool with Rhea County politics anymore.
